Light Shed Pictures has collaborated with youth arts organisations Firefly Arts, Vox Liminis and Belmont Filmhouse, introducing a vast range of young people to the power of being both behind and in front of the camera. From visiting youth groups and drop-in centres to running regular filmmaking clubs and week-long intensive workshops, we have created festival-selected drama, award-winning dance film and a whole host of experimental, exploratory, electric films in the process.
The Old Lie was a collaboration with Firefly Arts and choreographer Natali McCleary. Made by a crew of six teenage girls and fifteen young male dancers, our goal was to encourage more young women to take part in filmmaking and to challenge gender stereotypes within the industry. The Old Lie won Best Film in the First Cut Film Festival 2016. Visit the journal page to read about the making of this film.
